Every Omasi piece is made in Finland, in materials chosen to be worn every day.
Most of our materials come from suppliers within the EU. We would like to work only with suppliers certified under the Responsible Jewellery Council's Chain of Custody standard, and we ask about it when we take on a new supplier — but we are not there yet, and we would rather say so than imply otherwise.
14K GOLD-FILLED
A thick layer of 14K gold (585, 1/20) bonded to a brass core under heat and pressure. Our gold-filled pieces are roughly 5% gold by weight — 50 to 100 times more than standard gold-plated jewellery. It is not solid gold, but with proper care it holds its colour for years rather than months.
925 STERLING SILVER
Our sterling silver is recycled silver: chemically identical to newly mined silver, refined from existing material rather than newly extracted ore. It is nickel-free, which suits sensitive skin, and develops a gentle patina over time.
Our gold-filled, stainless steel and leather pieces are not made from recycled material.
SILVER-FILLED
Silver-filled follows the same principle as gold-filled: a substantial layer of sterling silver bonded to a base metal, rather than a thin plated coating. The look and feel of solid silver, with added durability for everyday wear.
SURGICAL STEEL
304 and surgical-grade stainless steel, some finished with PVD gold plating. Nickel-free, light to wear, and hard-wearing enough for pieces with more body and weight.
CULTURED FRESHWATER PEARLS
Cultured freshwater pearls grow inside freshwater mussels, each one forming slowly and slightly differently from the next. That variation is part of what makes them beautiful — no two pieces are ever quite the same.
